The teenage ensemble of the Volkstheater's Jugendclub follows the poet Mascha Kaléko from a monotonous office job into the Romanisches Café and Berlin's literary avant-garde, while the late-1920s city slides towards Nazi rule. The players developed all the roles from figures in Kaléko's poems, letters and diaries and wrote much of the dialogue themselves. This Sunday-afternoon performance on Bühne 3 follows the previous evening's premiere.
