Heimkehr – eine Tondichtung
A music-theatre evening staging Shoah testimony through Henze and Judit Varga scores alongside Dostoevsky and Kertész texts.
Why go
This is a sombre evening of music theatre at the Schauspielhaus, built around the impossibility of return after the Shoah. Compositions by Hans Werner Henze and Judit Varga are set against literary texts, including a monologue from Dostoevsky's The Idiot and a dialogue from Imre Kertész, performed by Martin Weigel, Kriszta Biró, Károly Hajduk and Daniel Grossmann. It follows young people who hold on to a belief in goodness and are broken by the cruelty of the world. Tickets go on sale from 1 October, so check the house for the exact curtain time nearer the date.
