Why go

Part concert, part cold-case investigation: moderator Maximilian Maier lays out the competing theories about Tchaikovsky's mysterious death in 1893, from cholera to possible suicide, and how his sexuality fed the rumours. Between the arguments, conductor Jesús Ortega Martínez leads the Bergson Phil' through the composer's own music, including passages from the Violin Concerto, The Nutcracker, the Pathétique symphony and Romeo and Juliet. It is the premiere of the format and runs a compact 75 minutes, so it suits classical newcomers and curious families alike, with a reduced ticket for under-16s. Held in the Elektra Tonquartier hall at Bergson's converted power-station complex in Aubing.
