A five-piece led by Munich bassist Susi Lotter, playing her own compositions that swing between energetic grooves and quieter, melancholic passages. Lotter, a BMW Young Artist Jazz Award winner, met her bandmates while studying at Munich's Hochschule fuer Musik und Theater, and that shared history shows in the tight ensemble playing. It runs as part of Unterfahrt's UNHEARD series for emerging local artists, staged this time in Halle 4 of the Einstein Kultur building. A good pick if you like fresh, contemporary jazz with plenty of original writing.
