Ein sanfter Tod
Stage adaptation of Simone de Beauvoir's memoir about sitting with her dying mother, played in the intimate Marstall.

Why go
A spare, two-hander drama drawn from Simone de Beauvoir's autobiographical "Une mort tres douce", in which she and her sister keep watch over their mother's final days in hospital. Barbara Horvath and Sibylle Canonica carry the piece, directed by Lisa Stiegler, with live sound worked into the room by Max Bauer. It runs 85 minutes straight through with no interval in the Residenztheater's smallest space, the Marstall, so expect a close, unshowy evening about grief, family and how a life ends rather than spectacle. Performed in German.
